  • In response to the challenges of population aging, many countries have introduced gradual increases of the statutory eligibility age and shut down pathways to early retirement. There are, however, many incentives left which create early retirement, in particular earnings tests and less than actuarial adjustmaent rates, both of which are still frequent in Europe.

  • Like many other developed countries, Norway is facing a rapid ageing of its population that is attributed to both falling mortality and fertility rates in the past and projected life-expectancy increases over the next several decades. According to United Nations (2015), it is projected for Norway that by 2060, the share of the population 65+ will increase to over 25% (from 16% in 2015) and the potential support ratio will drop to 2 people in the labour force for each person aged 65 years and over.

    Etter pensjonsreformen i 2011 kan alle ta ut folketrygd og privat tjenestepensjon allerede fra 62 år. Det går også an å jobbe ved siden av uten å få avkortet pensjonen. Dermed kan årene fra 62 til 67 år bli en «gullalder» for de som får pensjon samtidig som de jobber.
