Pensions and Divorce: what do we know, and what future research is needed?

We set out to understand how we might assess the implications of divorce for pension provision and the later life welfare of divorcees in the UK.

Despite this being a matter of significant social and policy importance, surprisingly there is almost no existing research on pension outcomes after divorce and such analysis as we do have is based on data that is now more than 15 years old.
