Disability-free life expectancy had been rising continuously in the United States until 2010, suggesting working longer as a solution for those financially unprepared for retirement. However, recent developments suggest improvements in working life expectancy have stalled, especially for minorities and those with less education.

A meta-analysis into the causal effect of retirement on health

In this meta-analysis I try to answer the question what the causal effect of retirement on health is. There are many conflicting results in the literature, partly because of the endogenous relationship between retirement and health. I’ve collected 576 results from 61 studies around the world into the causal effect of retirement on health.

A work community that includes both young and old workers encourages workers to stay in working life longer, a study by the Finnish Centre for Pensions shows. The extensive study based on register data examined the effects of interactions between individuals and work communities on continued working.

Accessibility of Training in Older Age; A Longitudinal European Perspective

Investments in lifelong learning often create unsatisfactory results and contribute to reproduction of inequalities. A lifecourse approach allows the study of accumulation mechanisms and discovering how path dependency in behaviours relates to macrostructural mechanisms. Using data from the Survey of Health, Ageing, and Retirement in Europe (SHARE), we trace individual training trajectories in the population of 50+ in twelve European countries between 2010 and 2015 (27 370 respondents).
